Tutoring’s 50th Anniversary
October 2014 marked the beginning of Tutoring’s 50th continuous year of serving the needs of Chicago students. NBC Nightly News covered this program on November 5, 2014, and local station CAN-TV’s covered the celebration on September 27, 2014.
12th Round also produced a video in honor of Tutoring’s 50th anniversary.
Social Service Center’s Good Neighbors Program
The efforts of Northwestern University medical students and Elam Davies Social Service Center staff and volunteers are documented in a April 2014 Chicago Tribune article.
Go Green with the Urban Farm
The Chicago Lights Urban Farm was featured on NBC 5 Chicago as part of their “Go Green” emphasis in November 2011, “Urban-Farm Growing Opportunities for Those in Poverty.”
Impact 100 Grant for the Urban Farm
In June 2011, Impact 100 awarded a special $100,000 grant to Chicago Lights to build a greenhouse, thus enabling us to expand programming at our Urban Farm. Impact 100 produced a video about their 2011 grant recipients.
